IT'S SHOW TIME!

Today is the day! Come down to Cervantes Other Side for a fun night of great music!

Feb 20th 2022 - David Johnston & Justin Garber

A Benefit For the Second Wind Fund

Please Join us for an evening of incredible music, community, and Kinfolk to financially assist The Second Wind Fund whose mission it is to support at-risk children.

As you've come to expect from Mr. Charlie's events, this will be a smaller, more intimate show, that really focuses on the artists and giving back to the community.

We will be providing high quality audio/video for either a live webcast or future release (or both) so stay tuned!!  If you aren't local but still want to support/join, we will try to make that available!

As per the norm we will have a silent auction running during the weeks leading up to the event.  Please check out https://app.galabid.com/kinfolklounge2/items for all auction details.

As a reminder - we are 100% volunteer and ALL donations/tickets/auction item proceeds go directly to the Second Wind Fund and the artists on stage.

About The Musicians

David Johnston - Born in Aurora, Illinois, Dave Johnston spent his extra-curricular time at the University of Illinois learning banjo. One year after he started, he was out playing gigs. His first ensemble was a group called Giblet Gravy. Some of the members split off with Dave to form The Bluegrassholes which fell apart due to other members differing sense of priorities (i.e.finishing school). Dave decided that he needed to move to the Northwest in order to hone his banjo playing and was eventually drawn to Boulder, Colorado’s acoustic music scene. Yonder Mountain String Band has created further opportunities for Dave to stretch out on the banjo and become an even more progressive and improvisational player. Dave’s goal is to become an ambassador of acoustic related music as well as a respected player within the strict bluegrass idiom.

Justin Garber - Justin Garber is a singer/songwriter out of Longmont Colorado.  Rooted in Americana, Garber's take on the genre is emotional and thought provoking.  An upcoming artist that should not be missed.  With a new record in the works, be sure to keep an eye out for more performances near you!

Alley Car -  Alley Car is a four piece string band from Denver, Colorado. Including members of Chain Station, Dan Andree Band, Jay Roemer Band, and Lonesome Days, Alley Car is quick to engage crowds at a high level of musicianship.  With original tunes and covers alike, this band is nothing short of a grand slam.

Jarrett Mason – Mandolin

Matt Cantor – Upright Bass

Dan Andree – Fiddle

Alex Thoele – Guitar

About our beneficiary -

The Second Wind Fund has built an innovative program that matches children and youth, ages 19 and younger, who are at risk for suicide and do not have the means or adequate insurance for necessary mental health treatment, with licensed therapists in their local communities or potentially via teletherapy.

Opening Night with Jeremy Garrett - SUCCESS!

What a night for an opening! Mr. Charlie's Kinfolk Lounge had it's first show at The Neat Factory with Grammy Award Winner Jeremy Garrett from the Infamous Stringdusters. Plus, we had Tyler Rennix, Rockygrass Mandolin Champion. It was a private event that sold out to an amazing crowd of fans. Donations were generously given and we were able to benefit Backline.care. It was the beginning of a beautiful thing and set the bar for a Kinfolk Lounge show. Thank you all to a night we will never forget!

Please support the Kinfolk Lounge

We  have lost so many musicians and dear loved ones to suicide. It is usually a lonely, dark secret, untold until it’s too late! Mr. Charlie’s  Kinfolk Lounge is focused on keeping the conversation going, bringing awareness and providing resources for suicide prevention. Each of our events highlights a specific charity, and brings people together through music and mutual appreciation. Proceeds go directly to the cause. Mr. Charlie's operates 100% on volunteers and donations. We appreciate what we are able to do because of you!

If you, or someone you know needs help, please reach out. Find a way!
